Great label, great man, great show: that’s what Karl Lagerfeld must think every time he needs to show the new collection for Chanel. Remember the white carousel in 2008 or the underwater world in 2012? For this fall/winter collection he thought in something bigger than big and huger than huge. Karl transformed the Grand Palais in Paris into a shopping centre where you could walk through the shelves full of Chanel soda’s, eggs, bread, eau de Chanel and Choco Chanel. After showing the collection the models went shopping at the Chanel store. Some took a shopping cart while others preferred a shopping basket made of the famous Chanel chains. The funniest thing of this all is that the woman that can afford a real Chanel probably don’t even do their own groceries.
Anyway, according to Lagerfeld it’s going to be a colorful winter. Colors like orange, pink, yellow and purple it is. In combination with black, grey or dark blue. You saw warm, long coats, pencil skirts, quilted dresses, oversized jackets and knitwear’s. Karl even succeeded to make trainers trendy again by mixing tweed with leather and turned it into boots. One of the eye-catchers were the metallic trousers, beautiful in combination with an anthracite jumper. My must-have is the black, fur clutch with a Chanel N5 sticker print.
Paris Fashion Week is over! Moschino was fun, Valentino was dramatically beautiful, Louis Vuitton showed that even without Marc Jacobs it’s still up and running but one thing is for sure: Chanel is and will always be the biggest and inspiring label in ‘fashion town’.
